Who God is

godThe Bible uses a lot of words to describe God. Perhaps the most important one is ‘holy’. This word means ‘completely different’, or ‘separated out from the rest’.

So He is one of a kind – unique. The Creator – without beginning or end. All-seeing, all-knowing, all-present, all at the same time! Ruling and governing all things, working every fibre of creation towards His ultimate goal. Way out beyond the farthest edges of this mammoth universe. Closer than your skin. Three in one – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Majestic and awesome and terrifying. Love – jealous, burning, conquering love. Holy, holy, holy – very holy.

This is the God who loves you, cares about you and wants to know you. This is the God who says, “Come to me all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.” Incredible.

Why God is important

God is the Architect of life, the Brains behind family and friends and the Source of all true artistic expression. He is what it’s all about, where it’s all going and why it’s all here. To forget or forsake Him is more than just a slight omission – it’s a tragedy of the highest order.

This explains the search for meaning that many are on, the hunger for glory that many feel, and the ache to come home that many live with.
